A Schnauzer is a German type of dog. The name comes from the German word for moustache because of the dogs' distinctively furry muzzles. The breed was originally bred to hunt rats and other small animals. Kennel clubs generally subdivide these dogs into three breeds by size:
Charles
Miniature Schnauzer: Less than 15 inches tall at the shoulder
Standard Schnauzer: 15 to 20 inches tall at the shoulder
Giant Schnauzer: Over 25 inches tall at the shoulder
Schnauzers have wiry coats. Their beard and long eyebrows need a little trimming. The most common colours are black & silver, all black and salt & pepper. They make excellent companions and display very human emotions.
